Bank Teller

Basic Functions:

Provide service to bank customers by conducting appropriate transactions and meeting the needs of customers by referring them to appropriate departments in the bank.

Essential Duties:

Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposits.
Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
Process savings withdrawals.
Cash Checks.
Indentify counterfeit currency.
Cross-sell bank products and services.
Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
Accept loan payments.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Excellent customer service skills.
Mathematical skills
In-depth knowledge of all bank deposit products and policies.
Basic knowledge of bank loans
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to cross-sell
High degree of accuracy
Strong communications skills.
Organizational skills.

Training and Experience:

High school diplomas or GED required.
Cash handling or sales experience preferred.
Prior Customer Service experience.

Our ideal candidate will have thorough working knowledge of consumer loan regulations as well as participate in established lending practices and sales techniques. Our lenders solicit, market, and process all consumer loans and other Columbia Bank services and properly service customers within established policies, objectives and guidelines. Some travel may be required for collection of existing portfolio.

Requirements Essential job responsibilities include:
* Actively participates in the solicitation of lending business and cross-selling of products to customers in person or by phone.
* Manages assigned loan portfolio to include collection of past dues, timely renewals of matured loans, note and/or mortgage modifications, collateral substitutions, etc.
* Demonstrates progress toward loan production goals set by management.
* Develop(ed) a strong working knowledge of all consumer regulations, including Regulations B, G, and Z, UCC, and State Statues
* Interview and accept all consumer loan applications obtaining financial information and purpose of loan.
* Analyzes the prospective loan request for previous credit and current financial obligations.
* Determines purpose of loan and method of repayment
* Qualifies, approves, denies, or counter-offers the loan within assigned credit lines and company policy and is prepared to justify that decision to both customer and management.
* Underwrites the proposed loan to include debt-to-income ratios, loan-to-values-, exceptions, mitigating factors, concurrence, etc.
